"Graduation Day - Navigating Transitions"

Maybe you’re in career transition (laid-off, downsized, unemployed, between jobs, or changing industries). Perhaps you’re under-employed (not enough challenge, growth, or compensation in your current position), or you might be fully employed, but dissatisfied and in need of a career change.

Transition is often confused with change. Change is more like a quick fix, or sudden loss. It's circumstantially oriented. Transition is a process by which we deal with change, a process of varying lengths. In transition, the world as we have regarded it no longer looks the same. It's the same world (perhaps), but our response has changed. This can be a very uncomfortable time, and at the same time exciting and exhilarating.

Joan Friedlander will talk to us about the 3 stages of transition as identified by William Bridges, author of Job Shift: How To Prosper in a Workplace Without Jobs (1994) and other books on the subject. She’ll talk about the typical characteristics or each stage and how they may impact us and how to make the most of them.

Joan Friedlander, founder of Lifework Business Partners, works with entrepreneurs and professionals that are somewhat overwhelmed by their success and need help moving to the next level, while also establishing improved work-life and self-care practices. She specializes in working with women as we can be especially prone to burn out when we don’t honor our needs for family, social and personal down-time.
